Organization at my best...and that's not sayin' much

Here is it...a new video! Now, don't get toooo excited, because it's not much. More...educational, if you will. At the end, I make a request, so comment away.

You're turn. Tell me how you do things to make life a bit easier.

Hey Natalie. I'm not very good at organization either. I am constantly losing things (just lost my 3rd wedding ring). I do have a box now that I put my phone, keys, and wallet in when I walk in the door. This is saving me at least 15 minutes every morning :)

I have my day planner which I HAVE to write everything in or it won't happen (read: I will forget about it.) I color code nearly every entry: fun (purple), school/homework (green), tests (orange), church and volunteer work (blue), and so on. That is about it on the organization. And that is only because I would be crazy(er) without it.

Love it! I have one of those too---I call it "The Household Notebook", my kids called it "Mom's Brain"---especially when it might fall in the floor and the pages would scatter.

You can read about mine here:

It's a great idea that works for me still!

I have everything on my computer so sister, if this baby crashes, I'm up a creek.

I have my grocery list in an Excel spreadsheet, my packing list for when we go out of town in an Excel spreadsheet, and anything else I can think of in an Excel spreadsheet.

Excel and me. We are friends.

YOU are SO cute! Love the video! And the organization...for a period of time in my life, I wanted to be a personal organizer--go into people's homes and help them streamline their lives and clean out and organize their garages, etc. So fun! (I'm a geek) Ha!

One of my favorite things to do to stay 'organized' and also help with serving size accountability/fast snacks...when I buy a box of crackers or something like that, I divvy the whole thing up into baggies (one serving per bag) and put all the baggies back into the box. Voila! single servings in a snap!

Nat, a notebook?! How brilliant. Whoever gave you a fabulous idea like that is absoutely the smartest girl in the whole entire solar system!! :) A feel a bag of chocolate donuts coming your way as a reward for getting so organized!! Video was funny. AND I believe you can do it for FOUR months at least!! The plug for SA made me laugh out loud when you made that clicky sound.

I am so down in the dumps today and that just cracked me up. I seriously can't wait to see you in live action. Thanks so much for the laugh!!

If I didn't have my crackberry calendar I would be in trouble. But my wife has a 5 year calendar binder that has a color code for each of us. You know if you see blue then Connor has something going on, etc. Yes she is a freak. She also writes down something on each day so we know what happened.

I really am impressed!
I rock the whole 18 notebook thing...it works till I try to go back and find something...then it's not such a beauitful system.
I used to color code everything...including and especially my time. LOL those were the good ol' days

I'd like to know more about your "walking journal"... sounds like an interesting concept! Congrats on getting so organized! I'm duly impressed.

I'm a notebook girl, too. I love organization. And office supplies. Cute shirt, by the way.

Yep...you're adorable, and that was a great video.

The key to organization for me is the family wall calendar. Everything, and I do mean everything, gets written down there. And if you were to look at it this week, you really could see my head spinning. It's out of control!

um. well. see... i'm working on that.
google owns me: email/to-do-list/calendar/ database/ spreadsheets /etc etc etc.

and i actually do keep a rolling grocery list. that is quite an accomplishment!

so. yeah. i'm headed home now to organize my entire life. you've inspired me. i CAN do this!!!

Natalie - you are so sweet! This couldn't have "aired" at a better time. Because of my work, I have an agenda (because I'm paper visual), I have an electronic calendar in my horrible, nasty blackberry along with voice mail, email - everything my employer needs to keep me busy 24/7! Ick. Unfortunately, (naw - fortunately) I never hear that thing ring. Oops. That's work. At home I have about 4 bibles that I use (reading, teaching, memorizing, and learning) and I have a binder for Lifegroup, one for Manna Class, napkins for blog ideas, a binder for prophetic words - well I think you get the drift. This past weekend I bought a superbinder and tabs and all kinds of neet things to put everything in one spot. I'd rather bring that to work. :)

HA!!! That is so awesome!! I love it - would love to try it. My favorite part, though, I have to say was, "Oh, theres an ant on me!" ha ha ha! I laughed out loud - thanks! Needed it! :)

Love the video.
Very informative. Love the notebook. Great idea.

My best organizing tip is to have a calendar on your fridge. We have a big dry erase board calendar on the side of our fridge and I write down all of our appointments, activites, church functions and birthdays...and so on. It is like my little palm pilot...except on my fridge.
It keeps me organized. For the most part anyway.
Actually it keeps us all organized...because we all look at the refridgerator several times during the day.

LOVE IT! Thanks for that awesome video Natalie! I am an Office Max Queen and love that you hang out there too. Maybe we can hook up and check out cute paper. :) I am a Mom Agenda Snob now. My sweet friend Nicole hooked me up for Christmas this year and I don't know what I did without it. We are going on 5 MONTHS! with it and I use it for everything...it goes with me and the kids everywhere. I get to use cute labels and has a section for each kid each week. WOW! Love it...
Also, need to chat it up with you about homeschooling in Edmond. We are moving back and think we are going to stay homeschoolers. Email me so we can talk. Happy night!

I just have a standard shmandard calendar. There's about 5 things that I do often, the rest is few & far between. I keep up most everything through flylady.net.

I have to tell you that I just started reading your blog and I've been reading it and applying my own idea of what your accent sounded like. Yes, I've got too much time on my hands. Thanks for posting a video so I can apply the CORRECT accent from now on.

So I know that you put this up a few days ago, but I just watched and am cracking up! Your so great with all your tabs, categories and colored pages!

Right now I stay organized by writing things down on our Refridgerator- Magnetic notepad. There was a time in my life, however, that every event going on in my life had its own binder. Complete with tabs and everything! For example, when I was planning my wedding I had a wedding binder. When we were building our house, I had a house binder, divided by rooms. When I was in school, I had about 4 zillion binders for every subject etc. I have been missing my binder craze so I may need to create a new one just because. it really makes me relax knowing that I have everything written down.

Wow - so you got more than you might have wanted about me and my binder craze so I will sign off, but say that i very much enjoyed your video!
