The Universe

So, I was thinking the other day about a friend of mine who basically has gotten too big for his intellectual britches. From what I heard last, he had studied philosphy and basically decided that God was not in his life anymore.

Huh. Seems as though someone found a good way out of really dealing with some stuff. I'm just sayin'.

Those thoughts led me to this whole idea of the Universe calling the shots in people's lives. I mean, it sounds cool and so earthy, but really, I'd like to ask some people some really good questions about The Universe and see if they can beat what my God comes up with.

1. Do you think that a Universe with no brain, mind, soul, heart, spirit, or funny bone could ever produce a species, like us, with such wonderful things. And, of these things, we do not even know how all of them work or why they work! We can't even figure ourselves out. How could the Universe?

2. Where is the Universe when your broken over death? Does it give you hope?

3. Does the Universe offer you a life of peace? Purpose? Joy? Love?

4. Would the Universe, in it's infinite love, die for you?

5. What happens to you when you die? Do you get to meet the Universe?

6. Does the Universe write the Moral Code, or do we just know that it's not nice to take candy from a baby?

7. Can you give me one instance when you felt that the Universe came through for you because you asked it to?

8. Can the Universe take all your crap and set you free from it?

9. Does the Universe comfort you when your crying in your bed?

10. Does this great and benevolent Universe know your name?

To these questions, I have an answer. His name if Jesus, not The Universe. The difference between you and me is that I humbly accept that I have a Lord, a Master, a Savior. I believe in someone who created your Universe. He knows my name. He loves me. He died for me. And He created me.

He is my universe.

Would you like to meet Him?

Excellent.

This happens so often. I loved Philosophy - because it affirmed my faith in Him; it did not make me doubt. I could see that there was no way I was going to trade in The One for the fake. Of course, it might have something to do with the fact that my philosophy teacher was a Jesus lover....

Anyhoo - EXCELLENT...again...

Such irony: phileo + sophia = love wisdom.

and yet

philosophy, waxing eloquent on foolishness, raises its head against the Truth, the Way, the Life. Jesus is my universe, too.

Very well said.
